The Yorkshire Patent Steam Wagon Co. was a builder of steam powered vehicles in Leeds. Steam cars were built from 1901 to 1937. The Yorkshire Steam Wagon had a horizontal boiler unlike many other steam powered brands. The horizontal boiler was a solution for tilting steam car in hilly environments.

The 'Samuel Smith Old Brewery (Tadcaster)' was released in June 1990. It was initially confused with the (Y8-5) 'Samuel Smith's Victoria Corn Mills of Sheffield' model.
The Tadcaster model was fitted with the load of barrels and false floor section used originally with the Y27 'Guinness'.
During production of the (Y32-1) 1917 Yorkshire Steam Wagon type WA, two baseplates were used because Matchbox had modified the number to read either Y8 or Y32.

The total production was 44,280.
